Please protect your property immediately.
On the back page of City of Boise’s Winter 2026 newsletter “In The Know” was a note from council member Lucy Willits regarding rats. It is highly recommended that Bristol Heights residents review this information, some of which may also be found at https://www.cityofboise.org/rodent-prevention.
In the interest of reducing food sources for rats, we are asking all homeowners to stop feeding the squirrels, and secure all chicken feed. We would like to remind everyone that the keeping or raising of farm animals or poultry is prohibited by our CC&Rs, nor shall anything be done or permitted which may be or become an annoyance or nuisance to the other property owners. An artificially high squirrel population is also bad for our trees, due to stripping the cambium layer for food, nesting material, or to wear down teeth, which can girdle branches or introduce disease.
Please report past and present rat sightings to gis@bristolheights.org. Include the date, quantity, address, approximate location and any other information you can provide. These reports will be kept confidential and used to identify problem areas.
